USC Viterbi 공과대학원 입학설명회가 10월에 개최된다. 입학담당자가 내한하여 학교의 석/박사 프로그램을 소개하고 지원 요강, 장학금제도, LA생활 등에 관해 안내를  할 예정이다. 공학, 컴퓨터 공학, 수학, 물리 등 과학 분야의 학사학위 소지자면 누구나 참가할 수 있다. 설명회에 등록, 참가한 학생에게는 입학지원료가 면제된다. 참석을 원하는 학생은 홈페이지에서 사전 등록을 하면 된다.

USC Marsahll 경영대학의 International Business Education and Research (IBEAR)프로그램은 중견 직장인을 대상으로한 12-month Immersion과정으로, 급변하는 글로벌 경제환경속에서의 리더십과 전문경영 훈련에 중점을 둔 석사프로그램이다. 오는 10월 24일 (수)에 IBEAR프로그램의 Director of Admissions & Alumni Relations인 Fujiko Terayama가 한국을 방문하여 입학에 관심 있는 학생들과 면담을 진행할 예정이다. 참가하고자 하는 학생은 아래 링크에서 등록하면 된다.

USC가 Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education이 9월 5일 발표한 대학 랭킹 조사에서 약 1000개의 미국 대학 중 17위를 차지했다. 톱 5 대학은 Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale University, Columbia University, California Institute of Technology 대학의 순이다.  캘리포니아주에서 상위 20위 안에 든 대학은 USC, California Institute of Technology, Stanford University 단 세 학교뿐이다. 이 순위조사는 인적/학문적/경제적 자원, 학생/교직원 참여도, 취업/졸업 비율, 외국인 학생/인종 다양성 비율 등의 세부 항목을 바탕으로 종합적으로 평가된 것이다. 이 항목들 중 USC는 수업내용과 현실세계에서의 적용성, 학생과 교수진과의 원활한 소통, 얼마나 광범위한 강의가 열리는가 등을 측정하는 "Engagement " 부문에서 전국 6위에 선정됐다. 또한 얼마나 다양한 학생과 교수진을 유치하고, 모든 학생들에게 최적화된 수학 환경을 제공하는가 등을 측정하는 "Environment" 부문에서 톱 20위 대학들 중 3위를 했다. "Outcomes"부분에서는 USC 졸업생들의 취업 후 평균 연봉이 미 전국 상위 1퍼센트라는 강점이 부각됐다.  

USC ranks No. 17 nationally in the newly released Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education survey of nearly 1,000 U.S. colleges and universities.

Among all California institutions — public and private — only USC, Caltech and Stanford University ranked within the top 20. Of 145 universities surveyed in the western U.S., USC ranks No. 3.

The annual ranking uses a set of comprehensive metrics to determine whether a college offers students sufficient resources to succeed, whether students feel challenged and engaged, whether the student body is diverse and international, and whether graduates succeed by paying off their loans and are able to find satisfying high-paying jobs. Read more

USC Price 행정대학의 Carol Rush, Associate Dean, Student Affairs and Enrollment Management 가 지난 10월 1일과 2일, 고려대학교와 서울대학교를 방문하여 교환학생 프로그램 및 대학원 입학에 관한 설명회를 열었다. Price행정대학은 이미 두 대학과 각각 학생 교류에 관한 MOU를 체결한 바 있다. 이 설명회에서 Carol은 학교의 다양한 프로그램과 캠퍼스 생활에 대해 상세하게 설명을 하고 학생들의 궁금한 점에 대해 답변을 해주었다. 한편 서울대학교 행정대학원과 Price행정대학원은 Dual degree program을 제공하고 있어서 이 프로그램에 관심있는 학생을 위한 설명회가 별도로 열렸다. Dual degree program을 마친 학생들은 서울대학교 행정대학원과 Price 행정대학원의 석사학위를 모두 수여받는다.

이번 방문에는 USC Korea의 최희연 Director도 동행을 하여 고려대에서는 김두래 행정학과 과장 및 이응균 고려대 정경대 부학장과, 서울대에서는 권혁주 행정학과 교수, 구민교 국제협력부 본부장등 네명의 교수와 각각 미팅을 가졌다.

On October 1st and 2nd, Carol Rush, Associate Dean, Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at USC Price school of Public Policy, held info sessions at Korea University and Seoul National University respectively, to inform students regarding Price’s undergraduate student exchange programs and graduate programs. Price school has a MOU on the student exchange program with these two universities. During the info session, Carol explained the Price School’s various programs and campus life and also answered students’ questions regarding the programs and admissions process.

In addition, USC Price School has a dual degree program with Graduate School of Public Administration at Seoul National University. As such, Carol held info sessions for students who are interested in this program. Students that participate in this program will obtain degrees from both Universities.

Carol’s visit to both schools was accompanied by Hee-Youn, Choi, Director of USC Korea Office. They also had meetings with representatives of both universities.
