USC Summer Programs for High School Students는 고등학생들이 대학입학 전에 다양한 학문을 접하고 대학생활을 경험할 수 있는 좋은 기회이다. 학생들은 주 5일 하루 5시간 이상 집중적으로 강의를 듣고 워크샵, 현장 학습 등에 참가할 기회를 갖는다. 4주 Credit 프로그램과 2주 Non-Credit 프로그램으로 나뉘어져 있어 학생들이 택일할 수 있다.

지원대상: 2019년 6월 16일 기준으로 9학년(한국의 중학교 과정)을 마친 학생
지원마감: 2019년 3월 22일 (International Student Application)

USC Gould 법학대학원이 Master of Studies in Law (MSL) - On Campus 프로그램을 신설하여 이번 가을부터 수업을 시작할 예정이다. 이 프로그램은 법조인이 아닌 타 분야 전문가나 학부 졸업생을 대상으로, 복잡하고 다양한 법률과 관련된 문제들에 대한 이해도를 높이고자 설립된 과정이다. 학생들은 비즈니스, 감사, 교육, 엔터테인먼트, 정부기관, 재무, 헬스케어 등 다양한 산업 분야에서 성공적인 리더십 수행에 필요한 법률 지식을 습득하여 자신의 커리어 개발이나 직장업무에 유용하게 활용할 수 있다.

이 학위 과정은 풀타임의 경우 12개월로 구성돼 있고 필수 과목인 Introduction to the U.S. Legal System을 포함하여 총 21학점을 이수해야 한다. 학생들이 캠퍼스에서 다양한 수업을 들으며 법학대학원의 다른 학생들과 네트워크를 형성할 수 있도록 한다는 점에서 기존 온라인 MSL 과정과 차별화된다.

M.S. in Neuroimaging and Informatics는 brain imaging과 관련된 neuroimaing과 informatics에 초점을 둔 석사 프로그램으로, USC Keck 의과대학 내 The USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute에서 제공하고 있다. 

이 STEM 프로그램은 1년 과정으로서, 뇌에 대한 데이터 수집법과 뇌 기능의 평가 방법, 뇌의 형태와 신경 연결이 다양한 방식으로 어떻게 질병에 영향을 받는지에 대해 집중적으로 교육한다. 개설되는 수업으로는 인간 두뇌해부학의 기초 과정, 자기공명영상 (MRI), 양전자방출 단층 촬영 (PET) 및 기타 뇌 영상 기법의 기초, 임상 신경 방사선 요법의 기초, 두뇌의 기능 전문화, 뇌 영상 데이터를 위한 분석 방법 등이 있다.  

졸업 후의 진로는 다양해서 medical training 프로그램 및 박사과정 등의 연구 프로그램, 뇌 영상 신경과학분야의 연구원이나 행정직, 이 분야와 관련된 공공정책이나 규제정책에도 참여할 수 있다. 

2019년 가을학기 프로그램 지원 마감일은 장학금 신청을 함께 할 경우 4월 1일이며, 최종 마감일은 5월 1일이다. 

World Masters in Language Teaching - Korean and English dual degree 과정은 USC Rossier 사범대학과 연세대학교 국어국문학과 대학원의 복수 학위 프로그램이다. 양교에서 해당 과정을 마친 학생은 USC Rossier 사범대학에서는 MAT—TESOL degree와 option으로 California Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential in English Language Development or World Languages를 취득할 수 있으며, 연세대학에서는 Korean language teaching certification 선택과 함께 국어국문학 석사학위를 취득할 수 있다. 

두 명의 USC 교수를 포함한 연구팀이 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 이용한 새로운 암 치료 연구로 미국 국립 암 연구소로부터 310만 달러의 연구비를 지원받게 됐다. USC Viterbi 공과대학 바이오의공학과의 Stacey Finley 부교수와 Keck 의과대학 Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine의 Shannon Mumenthaler 부교수, 그리고 The Indiana University School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering의 Paul Macklin 조교수는 이 연구지원비에 힘입어 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 활용해서 신체 내의 종양의 성장과 전이를 촉진시키는 세포간 상호작용을 연구할 것이다.

지난 1월 14일 (한국 시간), USC 동문 블록체인 기업인 SovereignWallet Network와 USC Viterbi 공과대학이 국제 연구협력 협약을 맺었다. SWN과, Viterbi 공과대학 내의 Center For Cyber-Physical Systems and the IoTs (CCI)와 Integrated Media Systems Center (IMSC)는 이 협약을 바탕으로 양 기관에 도움이 되는 공동 연구개발에 협력하며 SWN은 CCI와 IMSC의 Meta- Blockchain 연구 프로그램을 지원하기 위한 gift funding을 제공한다고 한다. 

윤석구 SWN 대표는 Viterbi 공대에서 컴퓨터 공학으로 석사학위를 받았다. 윤 대표에 따르면, SWN은 2021년에 가칭 "다시 쓰는 사토시" 논문 발표와 함께 MUI 메타블록체인 생성을 목표로 하고 있다. 이 메타블록체인 개발은 중앙은행 디지털화폐와 탈중앙화된 암호화폐 기술이 결합된 '알고리즘 중앙은행' 방식의 가치 안정화 화폐를 발행하는 것이다. 또한 이 프로젝트 진행을 위해 USC 동문과 기업을 대상으로 1천만 달러 상당의 기부펀딩을 시작한다고 밝히며, 기부참여자는 2021년 1월 3일 MUI-Meta-Bitcoin을 받을 것이라 한다.

On January 14, SovereignWallet Network and the University of Southern California on behalf of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering “Center for Cyber-Physical Systems and the IoTs (CCI)” and “The Integrated Media Systems Center (IMSC)” have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the international research collaboration. The representatives from each institution will collaborate in research activities that provide mutual benefits to both institutions. And SWN will provide gift funding to CCI & IMSC to support the research program on Meta-Blockchain. 

Seokgu Yun, CEO & CTO of Sovereign Wallet Network received his MS in Computer Science from USC Viterbi Engineering School. According to him, they plan to publish a remarkable paper called "Rewriting Satoshi". The paper is expected to be published on January 3, 2021, exactly twelve years after the creation of the Bitcoin Genies Block. Also, SWN will create the MUI Meta-Blockchain for a stable coin which is based on the Algorithmic Central Bank system, combined with decentralized cryptographic technology.
