As summer vibes set in on our beautiful University Park and Health Sciences campuses, it brings us great joy to set our sights on June 23, when we mark the 50th anniversary of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. This landmark piece of federal legislation has made a lasting impact, not only on American higher education, but more specifically on USC and our venerated athletic heritage.

At a time when women’s rights are very much in the news, it is paramount to remember what a difference the passage of Title IX—which aimed to level the playing field for girls and women in all aspects of education, including athletics—has made in the lives of women across the nation and at USC, both on and off the field. Read more...
