Lynn Swann Named USC Athletic Director
The Trojan and NFL legend Lynn Swan will replace Pat Haden, who in February announced he would retire from the post at the end of June. The Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl X, Lynn Swann will become USC's next athletic director effective July 1, USC President C.L.. Max Nikias announced. Swann earned his bachelor's degree in public relations from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. While pursuing academics at USC, he excelled on football field, playing on two Rose Bowl teams and a National Championship team in 1972. In 1974, Swann was drafted in the first round by the Pittsburgh Steelers, and was inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame.
