The 17th Korean President Lee, Myung- Bak Visits KSI at USC 
                                   

À̸í¹Ú Àü ´ëÅë·É ¹æ¹®´Ü ÀÏÇàÀÌ Áö³­ 12¿ù 13ÀÏ USC¸¦ ã¾Ò´Ù. ¹æ¹®´ÜÀº ÀÌ Àü ´ëÅë·ÉÀ» ºñ·ÔÇؼ­ ·ù¿ìÀÍ Àü ÅëÀϺΠÀå°ü, Çϱݿ­ Àü ´ëÅë·É ½ÇÀå, ±è½ÂÀ¯ Àü Çϳª±ÝÀ¶ ÃÑÀç µîÀ¸·Î ÀÌ·ç¾îÁ³´Ù. ¹æ¹®¸ñÀûÀº µµ»ê ¾Èâȣ ¼±»ýÀÇ ¾óÀÌ ´ã°ÜÁ® ÀÖ°í ÇöÀç Çѱ¹ÇÐ ¿¬±¸¼Ò ( Korean Studies Institute)°¡ ÀÚ¸®Àâ°í ÀÖ´Â USC Ä·ÆÛ ³»ÀÇ  Ahan House¸¦  Ã£¾Æ µµ»êÀÇ ¾Ö±¹ °è¸ùÁ¤½ÅÀ» ´Ù½Ã±Ý µÇ»õ°Üº¸°í, ¶ÇÇÑ Çѱ¹Çבּ¸¸¦ µ¶·ÁÇÏ°íÀÚ ÇÏ´Â °ÍÀ̾ú´Ù. ÀÌÀÚ¸®¿¡¼­ µ¥À̺ñµå °­ KSI ¼ÒÀåÀº ÀÌ ´ëÅë·É ¹æ¹®´Ü¿¡°Ô  Ahn HouseÀÇ ¿ª»ç¿Í Çѱ¹Çבּ¸¼Ò¿¡ ´ëÇØ »ó¼¼È÷ ¼³¸íÀ» Çß´Ù. ¶ÇÇÑ À̳¯ À̸í¹Ú Àü ´ëÅë·ÉÀº USCÀÇ  Max NikiasÃÑÀå°úµµ ¸¸³ª ȯ´ãÀ» ³ª´©¾ú´Ù.  

The former Korean President Lee, Myung- Bak and his delegation visited the Korean Studies Institute at the Ahn House on December 13.  The delegation members include former Minister of Unification, Woo- Ik Ryu, former Chief Staff to President Lee, Geum-Yeol Ha, and former CEO of Hana Financial Group, Seung-Yu Kim.  KSI director, Professor David Kang and KSI Associate Director, Dr. Gloria Koo shared about the KSI and the history of the Ahn House. President Lee shared his admiration for Dosan Ahn Chang Ho, his teachings, and his instrumental role in the Korean independence movement. In addition, USC President Nikias hosted the President and his delegation for a courtesy visit.

USCÇѱ¹Ãѵ¿¹®È¸ÀÇ ¼Û³âÇà»ç°¡ Áö³­ 12¿ù 5ÀÏ °­³²ÀÇ ÆÄƼ¿À³ªÀο¡¼­ ¿­·È´Ù. À̳¯ ¸ðÀÓ¿¡´Â ¾à 200¸íÀÇ µ¿¹®µéÀÌ ¸ð¿© ÇÑÇظ¦ º¸³»´Â ¾Æ½¬¿òÀ» ³ª´©¸ç Æ®·ÎÀÜ Æä¹Ð¸®ÀÇ ´Ü°á°ú ¿ìÀǸ¦ ´ÙÁö´Â ±âȸ¸¦ °¡Á³´Ù. ƯÈ÷ Çà»ç¿¡¼­´Â Áö³­ 2³â µ¿¾È µ¿¹®È¸¸¦ À̲ø¾ú´ø ¹ÚÀ¯»ó ȸÀå°ú  12´ë ½ÅÀÓ µ¿¹®È¸ ȸÀåÀ¸·Î Ãß´ëµÈ ¹ÚÀα¸ µ¿¿ø±×·ì ºÎȸÀåÀÇ ÀÌÃëÀӽĵµ °ÅÇàµÆ´Ù. ¹ÚÀα¸ ½ÅÀÓȸÀåÀº Á¶¼±´ëÇб³¸¦ Á¹¾÷ÇÏ°í USC´ëÇпø¿¡¼­ Public Finance¸¦ ¼öÇÐÇßÀ¸¸ç ÇöÀç Á¶¼±´ëÇб³ ¼®Á±³¼öÀ̱⵵ ÇÏ´Ù. ÇÑÆí USC Korea¿¡¼­´Â ÀÌÀÓÇÏ´Â ¹ÚÀ¯»óȸÀå¿¡°Ô °¨»çÆи¦ Àü´ÞÇß´Ù.   

À̳¯ Çà»ç¿¡´Â µ¿¹® À½¾Ç°¡ ºÎºÎÀÇ °ø¿¬µµ ÆîÃÄÁ³°í, Çкθðȸ¸¦ ºñ·Ô ¿©·¯ µ¿¹®µéÀÌ ±âÁõÇÑ »óÇ°±Ç°ú ǪÁüÇÑ ¼±¹°µéÀÌ µ¿¹®µé¿¡°Ô º£Ç®¾îÁ® Âü¼®ÀÚµé ¸ðµÎ°¡ È­±â¾Ö¾ÖÇÑ ½Ã°£À» Áñ°å´Ù. 


The USC Alumni Club of Korea hosted a year-end banquet on Dec. 5th in Seoul. More than 200 alumni members attended this annual event.  Yu- Sang Park who served as president for the past two years was presented the appreciation plaque from USC Korea. Alumnnus In-Goo Park was named the 12th president of the USC Alumni Club of Korea. He is currently the vice president of Dongwon Group and also a distinguished professor at Chosun University.  

Many alumni members and Trojan Parents Network donated the gifts for the event. All the participants shared the Trojan spirit and promoted the friendship through the year-end banquet.

2017 USC Summer Programs

Summer Institute for International Actors

The Summer Institute for International Actors at the USC School of Dramatic Arts is a five-week summer intensive taught by the School¡¯s world-class faculty. This innovative program combines rigorous acting courses and professional development opportunities with immersive English training.Developed in association with the Shanghai Theatre Academy, the program offers distinctive opportunities to its participants, including concentrated courses in audition preparation, acting for the camera, voice and improvisation, as well as workshops with leading casting directors, agents, managers and other entertainment professionals. Outings to film studios, theatres and museums in the area immerse participants in the culture of Los Angeles.

USC Cinematic Arts 2017 Summer Program 

 

The USC School of Cinematic Arts, Summer Program is a 6-week program that offers classes from many different facets of the entertainment industry. Participants from around the world have an opportunity to attend intensive, thorough, creatively demanding and satisfying filmmaking courses. Students will spend time on our state of-the-art campus taking classes focused on filmmaking, editing, animation, writing, visual effects, interactive game design, and the business of the entertainment industry.   • All classes are for college credit and can be transferred to any other institution
  • Classes range from 2-8 college credit units
  • Most classes are taught by current School of Cinematic Arts faculty
  • All filming equipment and post-production facilities are provided
  • Minimum age to attend is 16 years old
  • We have a rolling admission
  • The International Deadline is April 2, 2017
  • Application open on November 1 every year
  • The SCA Summer Program follows the undergraduate tuition rate set by USC

USC  Summer Programs for High School Students  (June 18-July 15)

 
USC Summer Programs extends a tradition of excellence to outstanding high school students through unique 4 and 2 week summer courses. Accepted students to the USC Summer Programs will balance academic and campus life as they prepare for college in the nation¡¯s entertainment center – Los Angeles, California. Learn more about USC Summer

USC Summer Occupational Therapy Immersion ( SOTI ) program 

SOTI is a four-week summer course that is held each July, and is designed for international occupational therapy students and practitioners who are interested in studying or working in the United States.
In this program, students will:

  • Gain an empowered understanding of OT in the United States through lectures and clinical site visits.
  • Be introduced to occupational science and USC's cutting-edge research by our renowned faculty.
  • Network with Los Angeles-based OTs practicing in both traditional and emerging practice areas.
  • Develop a global perspective of occupational therapy, health, and wellness by meeting peers from approximately 20 different countries.

The 2017 SOTI program will be held from June 30 - July 28, 2017. Tuition is $3500 and housing will be provided free of charge to all participants.  Applications are being accepted now until March 15, 2017, and can be submitted through the SOTI program website at http://chan.usc.edu/academics/global-initiatives/soti.
 

USC East Asian Studies Center FLAS Fellowhips

FLAS (Foreign Language and Area Studies) fellowships are provided by a U.S. Department of Education Title VI grant for undergraduate and graduate study of Mandarin Chinese, Japanese or Korean and East Asian area studies. Applications should be planning to use their training to teach, to serve in government or international agencies, or to engage in other work that advances American understanding of other countries. Awards are given for both the summer and academic year. For more information on the application process, click here
