USC Rossier School of Education Signs MOU with Yonsei University
 
지난 3월 3일 USC Rossier사범대학과 연세대학교 국어국문학과의 MOU 조인식이 열렸다. Rossier 대학의 Karen Symms Gallagher 학장과 연세대 문과대학의 백영서 학장이 서명한 이 MOU는 양교 Dual Degree 석사 Program을 위한 것이다. 이 프로그램의 학생들은 두 학교에서 소정의 과정을 마친 후 USC Rossier 사범대학에서는 Master of Arts in TESOL 과 선택으로 캘리포니아 Teaching Credential 을 취득할 수 있으며, 연세대학교에서는 한국어 교육 석사학위와 선택으로 한국어 교사 자격증을 얻을 수 있다. 2017년 가을에  첫 프로그램이 시행되며 원서마감은 5월 12일이다. 프로그램에 관한 문의는 담당자인 Robert Filback: filback@usc.edu 혹은 Emmy Min: emmymin@usc.edu, 연세대의 원미진 교수: mwon@yonsei.ac.kr로 하면 된다.
 
 
On March 3, USC Rossier School of Education signed MOU with Yonsei University Department of Korean Language and Literature. The Dean of Rossier, Karen Symms Gallagher, and the Dean of College of Liberal Arts at Yonsei University, Baik Young-seo, signed MOU for a dual degree program. Students enrolled in this program will take courses from both universities. After completing requirements, students will acquire Master of Arts in TESOL with option for qualified candidates to obtain CA Preliminary Teaching Credential from USC and Master of Arts in Korean Language Teaching with option for qualified candidates to obtain Korean Language Teaching certificate from Yonsei University. The first inaugural cohort of students is expected to begin the program in the Fall 2017 semester and the application deadline is May 12. IBEAR Welcome Ceremony Held on March 15
 
USC Marshall IBEAR (International Business Education and Research MBA program)과 한국 IBEAR 동문회가 주최하는 class 2017-2018 신입생 환영회가 지난 3월 15일에 서울에서 열렸다. 이 행사에는 Marshall School의 Richard Drobnick과 Fujiko Terayama를 비롯해서, 한국 IBEAR 동문들과 신입생 등 약 20명이 함께 했다. 손봉락 전 USC 동문회장과 브라이언 심 총무, USC Korea 최희연 Director는 환영회를 통해 동문들과 신입생들이 학업과 유학생활에 대한 정보를 나누며, 돈독한 유대관계를 맺을 수 있기 바란다고 인사말을 전했다. IBEAR 프로그램은 실무 경력이 있는 중견사원을 위한 1년 풀타임 MBA 과정이다. 한국에서는 대한항공, LG전자, 하나 Financial Group이 매년 사원을 선발하여 보내고 있기도 하다. 자세한 사항은 홈페이지 에서 알아볼 수 있다.
 

 
On March 15, USC Marshall IBEAR (International Business Education and Research MBA program) and the Korean alumni of IBEAR held a welcome ceremony for newly admitted students in Seoul. The event was attended by about 20 people, including Richard Drobnick and Fujiko Terayama from Marshall School, Korean IBEAR alumni, and newly accepted students. The Former President of USC Alumni Club of Korea Mr. Sohn Bong Rak, the Secretary General of Korean IBEAR alumni club Mr. Brian Shim, and the Director of USC Korea Dr. Hee-Yeon Choi welcomed everyone with warm regards, sharing their hope to establish a strong bond in the future. The IBEAR MBA is a one-year, accelerated, full time, international MBA program designed for mid career professionals being groomed to assume senior global positions. Veteran Journalist Willow Bay Named Dean of USC Annenberg
 
ABC News의 Good Morning America/Sunday 앵커이자 Huffington Post 수석 편집자였던 Willow Bay가 USC Annenberg 언론대학교의 학장으로 임명됐다. Bay는 2014년 7월부터 USC Annenberg 의 디렉터로 재직했으며, 재직 중 최첨단의 미디어 센터를 설립했다. Bay는 USC Annenberg 의 첫 여성 학장이다.
 

 
Willow Bay, the former co-anchor of ABC News’ Good Morning America/Sunday and senior editor of Huffington Post, has been named dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Bay has served as director of the USC Annenberg School since July 2014, launching its state-of-the-art Media Center. Bay will be the first female dean of USC Annenberg. Read More
 

USC Announces Six Honorary Degree Recipients for
2017 Commencement
 
USC는 5월 12일에 열리는 제134회 졸업식에서 명예학위를 받게 될 6 명의 명단을 발표했다. 이들은 시민활동, 학문, 과학 및 예술 분야의 지도자로서 지역사회에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 선정됐다. 수상자는 사회 복지 지도자인 Suzanne Dworak-Peck; 인기 코미디 스타 Will Ferrell ’90; 에이즈 퇴치를 위한 선도적 연구자 David D. Ho; 생물 의학 개척자 Gary Michelson; 아카데미상 수상 여배우 Helen Mirren; 그리고 로스 앤젤레스 카운티 감독 위원회 위원장 Mark Ridley-Thomas PhD ’89 이다.
 

 
USC will recognize six honorary degree candidates for their contributions to the community as civic, academic, scientific, and arts leaders as part of the university’s 134th commencement ceremony on the University Park Campus on May 12. The honorary degree recipients are social work leader Suzanne Dworak-Peck; popular comedy star Will Ferrell ’90; leading researcher in the fight against AIDS David D. Ho; biomedical pioneer Gary Michelson; Academy Award-winning actress Helen Mirren; and chairman of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Mark Ridley-Thomas PhD ’89. Read More

2017 USC Summer Programs
USC Cinematic Arts Summer Program
(May 15 – June 23, June 26 – August 4)
SCA Summer Program은 6주간의 프로그램이며 두 세션에 나누어 진행된다. 첫 번째 세션은 5월 15일부터 6월 23일이며 두 번째 세션은 6월 26일부터 8월 4일이다. 필름 메이킹, 에디팅, 애니메이션, 각본, 시각효과, 게임 디자인 등 연예산업의 다양한 분야를 공부할 수 있는 커리큘럼으로 구성되어 있다. 또한 몇몇 수업은 Warner Bros. 또는 Walt Disney Studios 같은 주요 스튜디오에서 진행되기 때문에 영화예술에 관심 있는 학생들에게 특별한 기회가 될 것이다. 해외유학생 지원 마감일은 4월 2일이다. 자세한 사항은 USC CAS 에서 알아볼 수 있다. 
USC Price International Summer Scholars Program (July 17 – 28)
Price 행정대학이 미국 대학원에서 행정학을 공부하기 원하는 외국 학생들을 위해 2주 여름 프로그램을 신설했다. 프로그램 기간은 7월 17일에 시작해 7월 28일까지이다. 커리큘럼은 public policy, governance, urban planning, health administration에 관한 강의와 더불어 항만청과 LA 시청, 여러 커뮤니티 방문과  career development session 등 다양하게 짜여져있다. 프로그램 총비용은 $5,250 이며 교재, 현장 견학, 기숙사 시설, 식사비, 학생 건강 보험이 포함되어 있다. 온라인으로 지원 가능하며 조기 지원 마감일은 3월 31일, 일반 지원 마감일은 5월 5일이다. 자세한 사항은 USC Price 에서 알아볼 수 있다. 
USC Summer Law & English Program (July 10 – August 4) 
USC Gould School of Law 의 Summer Law & English (SLE) Program 이 7월 10일부터 8월 4일까지 열린다. 4주간의 학습을 통해 법률에 관계된 영어 공부뿐 아니라, 미국법의 다양한 분야에 대한 지식을 얻을 수 있다. 지원 마감일은 5월 1일이다. 자세한 사항은 USC Gould 에서 알아볼 수 있다.
