Admitted Students Event held in Seoul

ÀÌ´Â »õ·Î  USC ÇкΠÀÔÇÐÇã°¡¸¦ ¹ÞÀº Çѱ¹ ÇлýµéÀ» ÃÊ´ëÇÏ¿© ±â»ÝÀ» ÇÔ²² ³ª´©°í, À¯ÀÍÇÑ Á¤º¸¸¦ Àü´ÞÇÏ´Â Çà»çÀÌ´Ù. ¾à 50¸íÀÇ Çлý°ú Çкθð, USC Çѱ¹´ëÇ¥ºÎÀÇ Á÷¿øµéÀÌ Âü¼®ÇÑ °¡¿îµ¥ USCÀÇ Lisa Rhone, Assistant Dean of Admission°ú Alexander Alvendia, International Admission Officer, Undergraduate AdmissionÀº ÀÔÇп¡ ÇÊ¿äÇÑ ÀýÂ÷¿Í USCÀÇ Çлý ¼­ºñ½º ¹×  LA »ýÈ°¿¡ °üÇØ ¼Ò°³¸¦ Çß´Ù. ¶ÇÇÑ ÀÌ ÀÚ¸®¿¡´Â ÇöÀç Çѱ¹¿¡ ±³È¯ÇлýÀ¸·Î ÀÖ´Â USC Çлýµé°ú  Çѱ¹ÇкθðȸÀÇ  ¸â¹öµéÀÌ ÃÊ´ëµÇ¿© Âü¼®ÇÑ Çлý ¹× Çкθðµé°ú ±³·ù¸¦ ³ª´©°í À̵éÀÇ ±Ã±ÝÇÑ Á¡¿¡ °üÇØ ´äº¯À» ÇØÁÖ¾ú´Ù. ÇÑÆí ¿À´Â 7¿ù¿¡ USC  Çѱ¹µ¿¹®È¸¿¡¼­ ÁÖÃÖÇÏ´Â USC ½ÅÀÔ»ýÀ» À§ÇÑ Scend Off°¡ ¿­¸± ¿¹Á¤ÀÌ´Ù. 
On April 26th, USC Admitted Students Event took place at The Raum in Seoul. The purpose of this event is to congratulate admitted students in Korea and give them insights about USC. About 50 admitted students and their parents attended the event. Lisa Rhone, Assistant Dean of Admission, and Alexander Alvendia, International Admission Officer at Undergraduate Admission and two staffs from USC Korea attended the event to introduce the next procedures for enrollment as well as USC¡¯s student services and LA life. In addition, USC exchange students in Korea together with a few members of Trojan Parents Network of Korea joined the event for a Q&A session. In July, USC Alumni Club of Korea will hold a Scend Off event for USC Korean freshmen.

Trojan Family invites 8,980 exceptional students for fall 2017 admission

USC´Â 2017³â °¡À» Çбâ 56,000 ¸íÀÇ Áö¿øÀÚ Áß¿¡¼­ 8,980 ¸íÀÇ ÇлýÀ» ¼±¹ßÇß´Ù. 56,000 ¸íÀÇ Áö¿øÀÚ¼ö´Â À۳⿡ ºñÇØ 3.5% Áõ°¡ÇÑ °ÍÀ¸·Î À̵é Áß 16%ÀÇ Çлý¸¸ÀÌ ÀÔÇÐÇã°¡¸¦ ¹Þ¾Æ ¿ª´ë ÃÖ°íÀÇ °æÀï·üÀ» ±â·ÏÇß´Ù. ¼±¹ßµÈ ÇлýÀÇ Æò±Õ GPA´Â 3.84ÀÌ°í, 31%´Â GPA 4.0À» °®°í ÀÖ´Â ÇлýµéÀÌ´Ù. ¶ÇÇÑ 42%ÀÇ ÇлýµéÀº SAT¿Í °°Àº ´É·Â Æò°¡½ÃÇè¿¡¼­ »óÀ§ 1% ¾È¿¡ µé¾î°¡´Â ÃÖ¿ì¼öÇлýÀÌ´Ù. Timothy Brunold, Dean of AdmissionÀº USC ÀÔÇÐÇã°¡ÀÇ ±âÁØÀº  ´ÜÁö ÀÌ·¯ÇÑ Çо÷ Á¡¼ö»Ó ¾Æ´Ï¶ó, ÇлýÀÇ ÀüÀÎÀûÀΠƯ¼º ¹×  USC Community¸¦ dz¿ä·Ó°Ô ÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ´Â ¿©·¯ °¡Áö ¿ä¼Òµéµµ  °í·ÁÇÑ´Ù°í ¸»Çß´Ù. ¹Ì±¹³» ÇлýÀº Ķ¸®Æ÷´Ï¾Æ ÁÖ Ãâ½ÅÀÌ °¡Àå ¸¹À¸¸ç, ¼±¹ßÇлý Áß 16 %¸¦ Â÷ÁöÇÏ´Â ÇØ¿ÜÇлýÀº Áß±¹, Àεµ, ij³ª´Ù, Çѱ¹ ÇлýÀÇ ¼øÀÌ´Ù. 
USC made a tough decision to select 8,980 students out of 56,000 applicants for fall 2017 admission. The field of 56,000 applicants, which is an increase of 3.5 percent from last year, is a USC record. Academically, the freshman class is made up of the top 10 percent of their high school¡¯s graduating class, with 42 percent scoring in the 99th percentile. By increasing student aid 76 percent since 2007, USC offers one of the biggest financial aid pools in the country. Read more

Three USC professors honored as 2017 Guggenheim Fellows

USC Viterbi °ø°ú´ëÇÐÀÇ Àü±â °øÇÐ, È­ÇÐ, ¹°¸®ÇÐ ±³¼ö Daniel Lidar, USC Dornsife Àι®´ëÀÇ ÀηùÇÐ ±³¼ö Cheryl Mattingly, ±×¸®°í USC DornsifeÀÇ ¿µ¾îÇÐ ÇаúÀå Viet Thanh Nguyen±³¼ö°¡ ¼ö»óÀÚµéÀÌ´Ù. ±¸°ÕÇÏÀÓ Æç·Î¿ì½ÊÀº 1925³â¿¡ ¼³¸³µÈ Á¸ »çÀÌ¸Õ ±¸°ÕÇÏÀÓ ±â³äÀç´ÜÀÌ ¶Ù¾î³­ âÀǼºÀ» °¡Áø ÇÐÀÚ¿Í ¿¹¼ú°¡µéÀ» Áö¿øÇÏ´Â ±×·£Æ® ÇÁ·Î±×·¥ÀÌ´Ù. ¸Å³â  3000¸í Èĺ¸ Áß 175¸í °¡·®ÀÌ ¼ö»óÀ» Çϸç, ¿ÃÇØ´Â 173 ¸íÀÇ ÇÐÀÚ, ¿¹¼ú°¡ ¹× °úÇÐÀÚµéÀÌ ¼±Á¤µÆ´Ù. 
2017³â Çѱ¹ÀÎ ¼ö»óÀڷδ ¿¹ÀÏ´ëÀÇ ¿À Èñ ¼öÇаú  ±³¼ö ¹×  ´º¿å¿¡¼­ È°µ¿ÇÏ°í ÀÖ´Â ¹Ì¼úÀÛ°¡ÀÎ ¹ÙÀÌ·± ±è°ú ÀÌÁöÀº ¾¾  3¸íÀÌ´Ù.
 
Three USC faculty members have been honored with prestigious Guggenheim Fellowships for 2017. Daniel Lidar, a professor of electrical engineering, chemistry and physics at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering; Cheryl Mattingly, professor of anthropology at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences; and Viet Thanh Nguyen, Aerol Arnold Chair of English and professor of English and American studies and ethnicity at USC Dornsife, were among a diverse group of 173 scholars, artists and scientists selected by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation to pursue research and literary projects. George Lucas Family FoundationÀÌ USC School of Cinematic Arts¿¡ µÎ ¹ø°·Î õ¸¸ ´Þ·¯¸¦ ±âºÎÇß´Ù. ¹Ì±¹ÀÇ Àú¸í ¿µÈ­Á¦ÀÛÀÚÀÌÀÚ USC µ¿¹®ÀÎ George Lucas¿Í ±×ÀÇ Family´Â Áö³­  2016³â °¡À», ¿µÈ­Çб³ÀÇ ÀÎÁ¾Àû  ´Ù¾ç¼º°ú Àú¼ÒµæÃþ ÇлýµéÀ» ÀçÁ¤ÀûÀ¸·Î Áö¿øÇϱâ À§ÇØ Ãʱâ õ¸¸ ´Þ·¯ ±âºÎ±ÝÀ¸·Î George Lucas Family Foundation Endowed Student Support Fund for Diversity¸¦ ¼³¸³Çß´Ù. The George Lucas Family Foundation has expanded its support of student diversity with a second $10 million endowment to the USC School of Cinematic Arts. The George Lucas Family Foundation was established at the school in fall 2016 with an initial $10 million endowment for students from underrepresented communities who qualify for financial support. African-American and Hispanic students in both undergraduate and graduate programs receive priority consideration for support from the Fund. On April 22, USC honored Trustee Rick J. Caruso ¡¯80 with its most distinguished alumni honor, the Asa V. Call Award, at its 83rd annual Alumni Awards. The Asa V. Call Award is given to an alumnus who has shown exceptional commitment to the university and the community by generously giving their time, energy and leadership. The Carusos have donated more than $50 million to USC, most recently $25 million to endow the USC Tina and Rick Caruso Department of Otolaryngology. The USC Alumni Association also recognized six notable Trojans for their achievements and contributions to the university.
