USC MBA PRIME Students visit Korea |

USC Marshall 경영대학의 Full-Time MBA 학생들이 PRIME 과정을 이수하기 위해 5월 15-17일 한국을 방문했다. PRIME(Pacific Rim International Management Education)은 미국과 아시아-태평양 그리고 라틴 아메리카 지역의 기업 환경을 비교하고, 지역 기업에 대한 이해를 돕기 위한 과목이다. 이 과정에는 한국과 중국, 일본, 태국, 페루 등을 방문하는 해외 견학 프로그램(PRIME International Experiential Learning)이 포함돼있다. 이번 40 여명의 PRIME 방문단은 대한항공, 종이나라, 현대아산병원, 만도, 팁스 타운을 견학했으며, 학생들은 사전에 진행한 연구 프로젝트를 각 기업에서 발표했다. 한국에서 일정을 마친 이들은 베이징으로 향했다. The USC Marshall School of Business Full-Time MBA students visited Seoul from May 15-17. The students visited Korea through PRIME, an experiential learning program that compares and contrasts the U.S. business experience with that in the Asia-Pacific and Latin American regions. The course includes PRIME International Experiential Learning, which visits Korea, China, Japan, Thailand and Peru. This year's Seoul and Beijing trip consisted of 44 people in total, including Professors. The students visited major Korean companies such as Korean Air, Jong Ie Nara Company, Ltd., Hyundai ASAN Medical Center, Mando, and TIPS Town. Prior to their visit to Korea, students researched companies in their company-specific projects and analyzed business and economic environments, and they presented their researches during their visits to companies. Upon completion of their trip to Korea, the students and faculties traveled to Beijing. | USC한국동문회가 지난 5월 13일 기업탐방 행사를 가졌다. 박유상, 손봉락 전 동문회장과 박인구 현 동문회장을 비롯 약 20 여명의 동문이 인천에 있는 인하대학교와 인천 경제자유구역청, 또한 동문 기업인 (주)TPC 메카트로닉스를 방문했다. 인하대학교의 최순자 총장은 USC에서 화학공학 박사를 취득한 동문으로 2015년 제 14대 총장으로 취임했다. 최총장은 방문단을 환영하고 학교의 연혁과 앞으로의 학교 비전 등을 설명해주었다. 이어서 송도의 G Tower에서 방문단은 이영근 인천 경제자유구역청장으로 부터 직접 개발현황에 대한 안내를 들으며 송도를 전망할 수 있는 기회를 가졌다. 또한 TPC 메카트로닉스에서는 GEMBA 동문인 엄재윤 대표이사로부터 로보트나 3D 프린터를 이용한 산업자동화 등에 대한 정보를 얻고 공장을 견학했다. USC한국동문회의 동문 기업 방문 혹은 문화 탐방은 매년 열리는 행사로 많은 동문들의 호응을 얻고 있다. |

On May 13th, USC Alumni Club of Korea held an annual enterprise visit day. Including Yu Sang Park, Bong Rak Sohn(former president of USC Alumni Club of Korea), and Ingu Park(current president of USC Alumni Club of Korea), more than 20 alumni joined the visit. The group visited Inha University, Incheon Free Economic Zone G Tower, and TPC Mechatronics Corp. At Inha University, Soonja Choe, the 14th president of university and USC Viterbi School of Engineering alumna, welcomed the group. Choe explained the university’s history and vision. At G Tower in Songdo, Young Geun Lee, the Commissioner of Incheon Free Economic Zone, explained about development of Songdo. Lastly, at TPC Mechatronics, Jae Yoon Eum, an alumnus of GEMBA, shared information about industrial automation using 3D printer and robots. USC Alumni Club of Korea’s visit to alumni enterprises is an annual event, which has received favorable responses from alumni. |

| 지난 27일, 고양시 어울림 누리 체육센터에서 USC 한국 동문회 스포츠 행사가 열렸다. 야구 소모임 이동건 회장과 장대호총무의 개회사로 아침 일찍 시작된 행사는 미니 축구/피구, 미니 야구/농구, 과녁 맞추기, 계주 달리기 등 다채로운 경기로 이어졌으며, 상품 수여와 폐회식을 끝으로 일정이 마감됐다. 25명의 동문과 학생들이 참가하여 화창한 날씨 속에 트로잔 페밀리로서의 단합과 우의를 나누었다. 이번 행사를 주최한 야구 모임 이동건 회장과 장대호 총무는 앞으로 이러한 행사가 매년 열려 스포츠를 좋아하는 많은 동문과 그 가족들이 참여하기를 바란다고 소감을 전했다. |

On May 27th, USC Alumni Club of Korea hosted a sports day at Goyang Oulimnuri Physical Education Center. The day began early in the morning with an opening ceremony and greetings from USC Alumni baseball club President David Lee and Secretary Dae Ho Jang. About 25 alumni and students together played soccer, dodge ball, baseball, basketball, home run derby, and relay race. The day ended with the awarding of prizes and closing statements from Lee and Jang, during which both expressed their hope that the sports day event will take place every year and that it will lead to more participation of alumni and their families. |

지난 5월 12일, USC의 134번째 졸업식이 개최되어 약 1만 7천명의 학생이 학위를 수여받았다. 이날 행사에는 USC 동문이자 유명한 코메디언 Will Ferrell 이 축사연사로 등장하여, 졸업생들에게 재치있는 유머와 함께 자신을 믿고 계속해서 도전해 나아가라는 메시지를 전했다. 이날 Ferrell과 함께 사회 복지 지도자인 Suzanne Dworak-Peck 등 총 6명이 명예 학위를 받았으며, School of Cinematic Art의 졸업생인 Cooper Nelson이 최우수졸업생으로 선정돼 졸업사를 했다.
USC's 134th commencement ceremony was held on May 12th with nearly 17,000 degrees given to a diverse group of USC graduates, representing more than 115 nations. Comedian Will Ferrell, a 1990 USC graduate, received an honorary doctorate and delivered the main address at today’s commencement ceremonies. As expected, there were plenty of jokes but also some surprising insights. Ferrell advised the class of 2017 to trust one’s gut and keep trying. Along with Ferrell, Suzanne Dworak-Peck, the social work pioneer and philanthropist and four others were presented with honorary degrees. Read more |

USC School of Cinematic Arts announces Robin Williams
Endowed Chair in Comedy |

USC School of Cinematic Arts는 조지 루카스 패밀리 재단(George Lucas Family Foundation)이 스탠드 업 코메디언 겸 배우인 로빈 윌리엄스를 기념하고자, 로빈 윌리엄스 기금 교수직(Robin Williams Endowed Chair)를 설립했다고 발표했다. 이 기금직의 첫 수혜자는 School of Cinematic Arts 필름 및 TV 프로덕션 교수인 Barnet Kellman이다. Kellman은 파일럿 프로그램의 탁월한 감독이자 제작자이며, 두 번의 Emmy 상과 Directors Guild 수상 경력이 있다. The George Lucas Family Foundation has established the Robin Williams Endowed Chair in Comedy in honor of the late stand-up comedian and actor, the USC School of Cinematic Arts announced. The first holder of the Robin Williams Endowed Chair is Barnet Kellman, a School of Cinematic Arts professor in the Division of Film & Television Production. Kellman is one of the preeminent director-producers of television pilots. He won two Emmys and a Directors Guild Award. Read more |
