서울대 국제협력본부
대표단이 지난 8월 7-8일 USC를 방문했다. 구민교 부본부장과 박용선 국제협력전략팀장을 비롯한 4명의 대표단은 7일에 USC
Dornsife인문대학의 Jane Cody/Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Marshall 경영대학의 Sean
O’Connell/Associate Director,Office of Undergraduate Student Services와 회담을 가졌으며,
8일에는 Price 행정대학의 Carol Rush/Associate Dean, Students Affairs and Enrollment
Management, Erick Heikkila/Director,Office of Global Engagement 또한 Anthony
Bailey/Vice President, Strategic and Global Initiatives와 미팅을 가졌다.
이들의
방문목적은 서울대와 USC간의 정기적인 학기 및 여름 프로그램의 학생/교수 교환 문제와 방학기간의 customized program, 연구소
협력 방안 등을 논의하기 위한 것이었다. 이미 서울대 행정대학원과 USC Price 행정대학은 복수 공동학위 프로그램을 운영하고
있고, Marshall 경영대에서 선발된 학생들이 서울대에서 교환학생으로 공부하고 있다. 이번 회담을 통해 양교는 더욱 다양한 프로그램을
확대하여 파트너십을 발전시키기를 기대하고 있다.

Representatives
of Seoul National University's(SNU) Office of International Affairs (OIA)
visited USC on Aug 7th-8th. Led by Dr. Min Gyo Koo, Associate Dean of OIA, and
Yong Sun Park, Director of Human Resources Division at Bureau of General
Administration, the OIA team met with USC senior administrators responsible for
international programs at Dornsife College of Letter, Arts and Sciences,
Marshall School of Business, and Price School of Public Policy respectively.
They were also greeted by Anthony Bailey, Vice President at Office of Strategic
and Global Initiatives.
The main purpose of the visit was to discuss
Student/Professor Exchange Partnership during regular semesters and summer
programs, customized programs during summer/winter vacations, and seek ways to
cooperate with research labs and etc. USC and Seoul National University has a
close partnership already-- with a dual degree program between Sol Price School
of Public Policy and Seoul National University's Graduate School of Public
Administration, and also an International Exchange Program (IEP), which allows
USC Marshall students to study at SNU. Both schools are expecting to further
develop their partnership in the future through this

U.S. News & World Report names Keck Medicine of USC
hospitals among nation's
best

Keck
Medicine of USC가 U.S. News & World report에서 발표하는 미국 내 최고의 병원 리스트에 9년 연속 이름을
올렸다. U.S. News & Report는 매년 미국 전역에 있는 4,500여 개의 의료기관을 비교하여 최고의 병원 랭킹을
발표하고있다. 전체 3퍼센트 병원만이 선정되며, 이는 최고의 환자 케어와 비뇨기과나 정형외과와 같은 전문 분야 치료에 대한 우수성도 입증 받는
것이다.
Keck 메디컬 센터 USC는 Keck Hospital과 Norris 암 병원으로 이루어져 있고, 2009년 USC에
인수된 이후 지속적으로 상위권을 유지했다. 올해에는 캘리포니아 내 최고의 병원랭킹 중 10위, 또한 전문분야 랭킹에서 정형외과와 비뇨기과 등
5개 분야가 Top 50내에 들었다.
Keck Medicine of USC의 CEO Thomas E. Jackiewicz는 “우리
병원이 미국 내 최고의 병원 중 한 곳으로 선정되어 매우 기쁘다. Keck 메디컬 센터의 모든 의료진들은 세계 최고 수준의 환자 치료를 제공하기
위해 매진하고 있으며, 이러한 노력을 인정받게 되어 매우 영광스럽다”고 전했다.
For
the ninth consecutive year, the hospitals of Keck Medicine of USC have been
named among the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report, a
distinction only 3 percent of the analyzed hospitals receive. The magazine’s
annual “Best Hospitals” ranking recognize hospitals in the United States that
provide the best overall patient care as well as specialized treatment in areas
like urology and orthopedics.
Keck
Medical Center of USC, which consists of Keck Hospital of USC and USC Norris
Cancer Hospital, was ranked among the best hospitals in California (No. 10). The
medical center has been highly ranked since it was purchased by the university
in 2009.

Village officially opens on Aug 17th and welcomes students and the
community | |
USC
Village가 3년간의 긴 공사를 마치고 마침내 8월 17일, 완공 기념식을 가졌다. 이것은 USC와 South Los Angeles 지역
역사 상 최대규모를 자랑하는 기숙사-상업공간 재개발 프로젝트로서, 15 acres 부지에 약 7억달러가 투입되어 완성됐다. USC
Village는 무려 2,700명의 학생들을 수용할 수 있는 기숙사와 교육시설, 그리고 Trader Joe’s와 Target를
포함한 25개의 상업시설들로 이루어져있다. 지역 주민들도 USC Village 내의 상점 및 녹지 공간을 이용할 수 있으며 이는 주민들의 삶의
질은 물론, 지역 경제에도 활력을 줄 것으로 기대된다.

USC
Village, the university’s massive development at the corner of Hoover Street and
Jefferson Bouelvard, officially opened to the Trojan community Thursday. Not
only is it the largest development in the university’s history, it’s also the
largest South Los Angeles has ever seen.With
six buildings spread over 15 acres, the $700 million project increases the
university’s University Park footprint by nearly a third. Residential college
suites are on the upper floors, with retail on the ground level. The investment
shows USC’s commitment to transform from what once was largely a commuter school
to a place where on-campus living is an integral part of the educational

Studies
The
Review of Korean Studies (RKS) is a peer-reviewed journal
published biannually in English by The Academy of Korean Studies. Since its
first publication in 1998, the RKS has strived to stimulate dialogue
and promote the exchange of ideas, theories, and perspectives among Koreanists
in both Asia and the West. The journal has been listed in the Korean Citation
Index since 2004. The RKS is currently soliciting articles from
potential authors in any field of Korean Studies for publication in the journal
for December 2017 as well as future issues.

- Research articles in all fields of Korean
Studies
- Translation or introduction of (a) primary source(s) on Korean
Studies.

support for the research or its earlier presentation/publication must be
acknowledged.
** Citations such as the reference list, footnotes, and
parenthetical citations should be made following the standards specified
by The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th Edition. For
Romanization of Korean, follow the Revised Romanization System, set by the
Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Further instructions for authors
