Dr. Pacifici, Director of USC International Center of Regulatory Science  visits Korea

Dr. Pacifici´Â 13ÀÏ USC Korea office¸¦ ¹æ¹®ÇÏ¿© ÃÖÈñ¿¬ µð·ºÅÍ¿Í Regulatory Science ÇÁ·Î±×·¥ÀÇ Çѱ¹ È«º¸¿Í Çлý¸ðÁý¿¡ °üÇØ ÀÇ°ßÀ» ³ª´©¾ú´Ù. Regulatory Science´Â Á¦¾à ¹× »ý¹°ÇÐÀû ¾àÁ¦ÀÇ »ý»ê°ú  º¸±Þ, ÀÓ»ó½ÇÇè µîÀ» »çȸ±ÔÁ¦³ª °ü¸®¿Í ¿¬°ü½ÃÄÑ °øºÎÇÏ´Â Çй®ÀÌ´Ù. 4Â÷ Çõ¸í½Ã´ë¸¦ ¸ÂÀÌÇÏ¿© Bio ScienceÀÇ Áߴ뼺ÀÌ Áõ°¡ÇÏ°í ÀÖÀ¸¸ç Regulatory ScienceÀü¹®°¡µéÀÇ ¼ö¿äµµ Àý´ëÀûÀ¸·Î ÇÊ¿äÇÏ´Ù°í ÇÑ´Ù. Regulatory Science´Â  STEM°ú¸ñÀ¸·Î ¿Ü±¹ÇлýµéÀÌ ¹Ì±¹¿¡¼­ 3³â µ¿¾È Optional Practical TrainingÀ» ÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖÀ¸¸ç ¸¹Àº ÀÎÅÏ½Ê ±âȸ¿Í ÇÔ²² ±¸Á÷ÀÌ ¿ëÀÌÇÑ ºÐ¾ßÀÌ´Ù.  USCÀÇ Regulatory ScienceÇÁ·Î±×·¥Àº ¿ì¼öÇÑ ±³¼öÁø°ú ½Ã¼³, Á¾ÇÕÀûÀÌ°í ü°èÀûÀÎ Ä¿¸®Å§·³À¸·Î  ÀÌ ºÐ¾ß ±³À°¿¡ ¼±µµÀûÀÎ ¿ªÇÒÀ» ÇÏ°í ÀÖ´Ù.  

Dr. Eunjoo Pacifcii, Director of USC International Center for Regulatory Science, visited Seoul from September 13-15th. On September 13th, Dr. Pacifici met with Director of USC Korea office, Hee-Yeon Choi to promote Regulatory Science Program in Korea. During her stay in Korea, Dr. Pacifici also made a presentation at the Korean Movement Disorder Society, and lectured students on "Drug Development in 21st century" at Sungkyunkwan University.
 
Regulatory Science is a study that relates the regulatory and legal requirements of pharmaceutical/ biomedical product development to the scientific research needed to ensure the safety and efficacy of those products.
 
Facing the upcoming of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Bio-science is getting more and more important, and need for Regulatory Science Professionals is at its utmost.
Regulatory Science is one of the STEM subjects that international students can gain Optional Practical Training for three years, and further seek internship or permanent job opportunities easily. USC's Regulatory Science Program is known as one of the finest in the field with prestigious faculty and state-of-the-art research facilities, which enable its comprehensive and systematic curriculum.

USC Alumni Club of Korea held a cultural event

À̹ø Çà»ç´Â Ưº°È÷ ÀþÀº ¿©¼º µ¿¹®À» ´ë»óÀ¸·Î ÇÑ°ÍÀ¸·Î,  ¹ÚÇöÁØ ¹®È­¿¹¼ú ¼Ò±×·ì ȸÀå, °í¿¹¼Ö Ãѹ« µî 10¿© ¸íÀÇ µ¿¹®°ú USC KoreaÀÇ ÃÖÈñ¿¬ µð·ºÅÍ°¡ û´ãµ¿ CGVÀÇ sweet box¿¡¼­  Tom Cruise ÁÖ¿¬, Doug Liman °¨µ¶ÀÇ " American Made"¸¦ ÇÔ²² °ü¶÷Çß´Ù. µ¿¹®È¸ÀÇ ¹®È­¿¹¼ú¸ðÀÓÀº 1³â¿¡ µÎ¹ø¾¿ Á¤±â ¸ðÀÓÀ» °®°í ÀÖ´Ù. ¹ÚȸÀåÀº À̹ø ¸ðÀÓÀ» ½ÃÀÛÀ¸·Î ÀþÀº ¿©¼º µ¿¹®µéÀÌ ¹®È­¿¹¼úÀÇ °¨»ó»Ó ¾Æ´Ï¶ó  ±³·ù¿Í Ä£¸ñµµ ³ª´©¸ç  µ¿¹®È¸¿¡ Àû±ØÀûÀ¸·Î Âü¿©Çϱ⠹ٶõ´Ù°í ÀüÇß´Ù.

On September 16th, USC Alumni Club of Korea had a Culture & Art gathering which was especially for young alumnae. More than 10 alumni, including the Director of USC Korea, Hee-Yeon Choi, gathered at CGV Chungdam. They watched "American Made" starring Tom Cruise. Hyun Joon Park, President of Culture & Art group said that he hopes for more young alumnae to participate in these events to enjoy cultural activities together and communicate with other alumni through USC Alumni Club of Korea.

Àú³á ½Ä»ç ÈÄ ºÎºÎµ¿¹Ý Âü¼®ÀÚ¿Í ¸î¸î ¾î¸Ó´ÏµéÀº ÀÚ¸®¸¦ ¿Å°Ü ¸ðÀÓÀ» ÀÌ¾î ³ª°¬´Ù. TPNÀº Çб³ ¹× ÇлýµéÀÇ ¼Ò½Ä°ú  Á¤º¸ ±³È¯À» ¸ñÀûÀ¸·Î 1³â¿¡  ¼¼¹ø Á¤±â¸ðÀÓÀ» °®°í ÀÖ´Ù. Trojan Parent Network of Korea had their first official meeting of the year on September 21st at a restaurant in Seoul. A total of 20 members attended this gathering, including new parents of freshmen students. Their main agenda was to introduce TPN, USC Korea and USC Alumni club Korea, and share the news on school and students. They had the opportunity to make congratulations to a recent marriage of current student who is a son of TPN member and also late greetings to a member's daughter for her graduation. TPN holds regular meetings three times a year to share the information on their children's study abroad and to help each other. USC ranked high in the U.S. News & World Report's  National University Ranking

USC°¡ US News & World Report°¡ ¹ßÇ¥ÇÑ 2018 National University ·©Å·¿¡¼­ Emory ´ëÇÐ, UC Berkely, UCLA¿Í ÇÔ²² °øµ¿ 21À§¸¦ Â÷ÁöÇß´Ù.  Åé 5 ´ëÇÐÀº ÇÁ¸°½ºÅÏ, ÇϹٵå, ½ÃÄ«°í, ¿¹ÀÏ, Ä÷³ºñ¾Æ ´ëÇÐÀÇ ¼øÀÌ´Ù. USC´Â 23%ÀÇ ÇкλýÀÌ ¿¬¹æÁ¤ºÎÀÇ Pell Grant¸¦ ¹Þ¾Æ "economic diversity" ºÎ¹®¿¡¼­ 4À§, " ÂüÀü¿ë»ç¸¦ À§ÇÑ best college"ºÎ¹®¿¡¼­ 5À§, "ÀÎÁ¾Àû ´Ù¾ç¼º" ºÎ¹®¿¡¼­´Â 33À§¿¡ ¿Ã¶ú´Ù. Viterbi °ø´ëÀÇ Çкδ Åé °ø°ú´ëÇÐ 25À§ ¼øÀ§¿¡ ³õ¿´´Ù. ¶ÇÇÑ  USC´Â µ¿¹®±â±Ý ºÐ¾ß¿¡¼­´Â  ¹«·Á 41%ÀÇ µ¿¹®µéÀÇ ±âºÎ Âü¿©À²·Î 3À§, ÇкλýÀ» À§ÇÑ ÀçÁ¤Áö¿ø¿¡¼­´Â 22À§¿¡ ¿Ã¶ú´Ù. ÇÑÆí °íµîÇб³ ÀÔÇÐ Ä«¿î½½·¯µéÀº USC¸¦ 22À§ ¼øÀ§¿¡ ¼±Á¤Çß´Ù. USC´Â ¹Ì´ëÇÐ Áß¿¡ 13¹ø°·Î ¿Ü±¹ À¯Çлý ÇкλýÀÌ ¸¹Àº Çб³·Î ²ÅÇû´Ù.

U.S. News & World Report ranked USC as the No. 21 national university. USC was ranked No. 4 for ¡°economic diversity,¡± with 23 percent of its undergraduate students receiving Pell Grants, and No. 5 on the report¡¯s ¡°best college for veterans¡± list, up eight spots from last year. USC was also ranked No. 15 among the ¡°most innovative¡± universities (up four spots from 2016), No. 33 in ¡°ethnic diversity,¡± and the No. 40 best value college.The USC Marshall School undergraduate program was ranked No. 11. The USC Viterbi School¡¯s undergraduate program was ranked No. 25 among top engineering schools whose highest degree is a doctorate, up three spots. USC also ranked No. 3 in alumni giving with 41 percent of all alumni contributing to the university. USC's financial resources for undergraduate students rank went up three spots to No. 22 and the university's student-to-faculty ratio improved from 9:1 to 8:1. High school counselors ranked USC as their No. 22 top college, up six spots, and selectivity rank among national universities improved to No. 29. USC President C.L. Max Nikias speaks at the welcome dinner for the 2017 USC Global Conference in Tokyo
2017 USC Global Conference was held successfully on September 21-23 at Tokyo, Japan. The main theme of the conference was "Creating Future" and it focused on how the impact of the technology on our lives continues to accelerate and widen. In this event, USC faculty, staff, alumni were joined by approximately 500 guests around the world. Anthony Bailey, USC Vice President for Strategic and Global Initiatives, and Michael Quick, USC Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs kicked off the event with a welcoming speech and the opening ceremony followed by USC President, Max Nikias's greeting, and a performance by world-renowned violinist and distinguished Professor at the USC Thornton School of Music, Midori Goto.

In the next day, beginning with a welcoming remarks from Max Nikias, keynote speaker Kazuo Hirai, president and CEO of Sony, had a conversation on future of creative technology in new consumer market segments with audience. Ten other branch sessions with variety related topics were also held, which participants could attend at their interest. Each session speakers were not only renowned scholars from USC but also business, government, and academic leaders around the world, and they shared their expertise and exchanged ideas with other attendants. Participants at the Global Conference learned how USC, as the world leader in creative technologies, has been at the forefront of turning creativity into reality in sectors including the sciences, humanities, engineering, medicine, entrepreneurship, the arts and entertainment. The conference ended with a closing dinner and a contemporary dance repertory by students from USC Kaufam School of Dance. President C.L. Max Nikias shared the destination of the next event, Beijing.

USC¡¯s Global Conference series is held in major world cities and brings together renowned academics and influential business leaders to present and discuss the latest research results across the full range of academic disciplines and their influence on the Pacific Rim.
